About SFI

Sustainable Forest Industries and all the individuals involved have deep roots in Fiji.  The heart of the operation are the people who believe in the Fijian future.  The physical plants comprise of mills and processing yards that have been operating in Fiji for over 30 years.  These include modern kilns and treatment facilities, modern sawing and moulding equipment and a large air drying yard.

The project has been endorsed by the World Bank.

SFI has received the concession harvesting rights for the Fijian Mahogany plantations from the FHC (Fijian Hardwood Corporation) and works closely with the government and the landowners to make sure the profits from the plantations are utilized for the long term betterment of Fiji.  SFI already produces flooring and mouldings for the domestic and Oceanian export market and hopes to expand the sales in processed goods internationally.  Long term investment plans include the development of several value-added processing plants to increase employment and provide the world with a higher value product direct from the people and Islands of Fiji.

Pictures of the facilities are available here.
